Price : 49.99 online, 59.99 at the "As seen on tv store", 99.99 on tv (ouch)..

The point of this device is to block the use of the attached pedal, as a supplement to an alarm and such. Although the marketing blurb is all about the brake pedal, they recommend you block the clutch pedal on a manual tranny (since the handbrake still works even if the pedal doesnt, but on an auto, the park interlock solves that.).

On my wrx, I found that it just wont go on the clutch due to the angle of the firewall just left of the clutch (it angles up to meet the footrest). The thing has 3 prongs for feet and the left one puts the whole thing up in the air and it seems funky to me. Putting it on the brake is easy enough and it fits surprisingly well. The Device is sturdy and the lock mechanism inspires trust. The keys are funky and you know a thief will try and break something before picking this :

Heres a picture of the thing in place :

For 50 bucks, its not a bad device, its sturdy and attaches to sturdy parts of the car (unlike the wheel). I wish it would fit over the clutch, since the thief can use the parking brake, but like anything, its just an annoyance to the thief so why not. Install and removal is fairly quick, although I dont see anyone using this think for every little quick-stop - after all, It's a lunking great piece of metal to lug around and no replacement for an alarm.

I don't know about your unit, but my Autolock fits around the clutch pedal just fine... the clutch cannot be pressed in. It looks like from your pic that it is on backwards...

Yeah i use that in my wrx on occasion & seems to be pretty effective compared to the club.

But how hard is it to dismantle the brake or clutch pedal? I mean couldn't a thief defeat the autolock by simply removing the pedal?
Just curious.

Yea that's what I thought too... or how long would it take to snap the pedal in half with some snips after it has been heated with an oxyacetalene torch? It does turn off some thieves though, I'm sure...

<G> ocycetaline torch.. ha.. thats funny. i can just see it.. dude in a ski mask sneaking around the parking lot lugging a blow torch and a set of pliers.. .. if they go to that much trouble, they've earned it.

I use the Auto Lock on the clutch of my 02 WRX, and it works fine. Looking at the posted pics, looks like it's on backwards.

Looks right to me. Third prong faces down, keyhole to the right. They changed the key design though. I actually bought it before I bought the car. It's pretty easy to put on and get off. I can do it in under 5 seconds from getting from under seat to getting out of car.;)

The other night I actually saw a show about car thieves, I think it was on TLC but it could've been the Discovery Channel. I think the title of the show was 'Gone every twenty three seconds'. It was really informative and talked with a former car stealer about different security devices. He actually recommended this item because one of the strongest points in the car is the brake pedal because it has to withstand a lot of force. I don't have one yet, but my car isn't really your typical target. The former criminal also said that the more devices you had the less chance of getting it nabbed, ie a good alarm, and one of these pedal locking devices, etc. etc. When I get my new car, that'll be one of the first things I'll look into.
