02 wrx with morettes looking to do Low beam upgrade to H7 HID is it possible to do easily nobody seems to want to touch these anymore or have the kit thats made for them. I have the Valeo optics in mine.
I also had the vinyl covers which for the low beams have lost there traslucency and now I get reduced performance.
They are so dull now I added the Hella 500's for high beam reinforcement I am still aiming these oh what a pain. I can actually run them now on reasonably low traffic and I can see they aren't blinding and aren't aimed down at the road either my initial mistake.
Any thoughts

take the rockblocker off and replace it with new, clear rockblocker?
seems to me if your valeo optics are hazy you shouldn't put HIDs in them, that will only make the problem worse.
and you're running 500 driving pattern as a lowbeam? that's incredibly bad for other drivers, driving beams are not to be used around other traffic.
if your lenses are fogged, see about refinishing them before you go out and put HIDs in. HIDs are expensive and the cheap kits can break.
I think if you'd just take off your "lost translucency" rockblocker protection film you'd find your problem solved... maybe get new film?

Yeah I am not ussing the driving lights all the time generally with the high beams I am not getting flashed at all I am pretty careful with the aimimg and they still cast out pretty far. The 500's are not that crazy bright there noticeable but it depends how dark your surroundings are. Either way i agree on getting the Rockblockers off for now any tips on removal. I wasn't looking to do a cheap hid I was looking to use the recommened kit for them which there are upgrades available or used to be.

Definitely replace the film before you do anything else. The original Xpel I had on my Morettes became a bit cloudy after a few years, I just ordered a new sheet for $15 and replaced it. The old stuff peels right off and the lenses clean up easily.
As for HIDs check in the HID FAQ thread and read my posts in there, the Morettes being H7 lights do not require any "kit" to install HIDS. You can do this yourself with all OEM type components.

Thanks Mulder I checked out the HID FAQ I am just looking to get more out of the low beams when I dropped the fog's for driving lights I only help the Highs I really don't want to add another aftermarket light to reinforce the lows. I will start with the vinyl removal and see where I get.

Stock what the morette came with I am amazed but they haven't gone yet. I should start there I agree. I am going to check out http://www.danielsternlighting.com/products/products.html
They show some bright choices.

Two words for the Morette lights without resorting to HID: Osram Silverstar. Not the Sylvanias, but get the Osrams. Worth the money.

Also, be sure the low beams have good ground. If your running the Morette harness, it's recommened to ground the low beams directly to the body and not through the harness.
