Are the cutoff shields for the EDM headlights the same design as the cutoff shield for the JDM HID headlights? In other words, could I take a cutoff shield from an EDM headlight and swap it into my JDM headlight with no modifications? It would just be alot easier and probably work out alot better to use EDM shields if possible because they will be a perfect beam pattern and they will be the correct height and not 1.5 mm lower due to dremeling. So does anybody know?

apparently not. the EDM mounts on the top of the projector and the JDM mounts on the bottom.

that sucks...are there any projectors that come with shields that would fit the jdms with minor modification to the mounting? probably hard to find out about stuff like that...

this may be more trouble than you want, but if you can't find any other cutoff that will fit, you could maybe try and weld another small sheet of aluminum or something to the shroud to make it the proper height/cutoff?

thinking back on the mod, if you have a descent metal shop, one could be fab'd fairly easily. the only concern that i would have for welding another piece is that not only is the cutoff shield that i have stupid looking, but there is a small lip that points back towards the light. i don't have a pic of that one, but you would have smooth that piece out first before putting an extra plate on there. if i ever hear back from wagons_ho! about my harness, i could show you the cutoff. until then, i'm just waiting around to see the end results. i really would rather not use any splicing to make the light work.

i stumbled across something interesting today. i plugged my modded jdm lights in today and saw the new beam pattern that the mod yielded. much to my suprise, it appeared that i created a LHD pattern by grinding the shield flat. it has a small step now in the proper direction. once i get my wire harness, i will post proper pics, but for now it looked almost ok. i did notice the small amount of glare that was expected by grinding the shield down. the hot spot didn't look too noticable either. this would be an ideal for a non-HID application, but then again, i have seen other pics here of unmodded jdm and edm for that matter that had some glare.

so, once i get everything in place, i will post the new pics. but as you can see above, the unmodded lights show glare too. granted these are pics of HID's in a non HID headlight. it would appear that grinding or not, there is some glare no matter what. if anyone else has better pics, by all means, please post them :)
