Hi,
I thought about this combo but the bore of the shortblock is much bigger than the bore of the heads. So wouldn't that damage the heads after some time? Everytime some of the explosion in the cylinder will end up on the surface of the heads.

I think it is the stroke that is the difference on the 2.5 litre. Anyone?

A larger bore will not be a problem. Now if you used 2.5L heads on a 2.0L engine(smaller bore engine) this would not be so good.

If your budget allows for a built shortblock, why not just get 2.5l sti heads too? Your mechanic obviously won't have a problem, the cams and heads flow better, and you add avcs. If you don't get an STI ecu, get a Hydra for your ems. The hydra will control avcs on a WRX ecu.

IF you are going to a 2.5L block, you should take advantage of the larger bore and reshape the combustion chambers to unshroud the valves and bump up combustion chamber cc's a bit.
If you don't know anything about how to do this, there are many companies that can port your heads and do some reshaping to get you what you want. Properly shaped combustion chamber will be a great advantage over the stock crap.

Absolutely correct :D
I was one of the first to run the 2.5L/wrx head combo in my WRX. A good de-shrouding helped pick up a little more cc and yielded a way better burn.
Good luck
