SubEd 10-01-2001, 09:33 AM Tires! Tires! And since you're getting Tires!, new 17" wheels! Oh, and Tires!
Yellow T-REX 10-01-2001, 10:36 AM And maybe a MBC to take advantage of the other stuff.
westy66 10-01-2001, 11:17 AM you DEFINATELY dont need the $1000 IC until you get further on down the mod line.

WRX Power 10-01-2001, 11:19 AM How about a bolt-on PE1818 turbo instead of that intercooler?
gixxerpunk 10-01-2001, 01:53 PM I'm picking my WRX up on the 15th (hopefully) from the dealer and I can't hardley wait (this is my first ever all wheel drive car)..... What would be the best mods to plan on first? I already have 18" OZ racing rims and P-Zero Tires waiting in my garage for the WRX. I was thinking Apex-i AVC-R for boost control, Apex-i S-AFC for fuel and timing regulation, and an HKS SQV Blowoff Valve. Then maybe a front mount intercooler and brake upgrades. Any ideas on better equipment to use on the WRX, or maybe different combinations to take altogeather. I am going for A quick 1/4 mile and highway handling while remaining stock sounding and looking.
By the way, I am waiting on any mods untill I have at least 2000 miles on the car, but I want to start getting the parts togeather....
jwaters 10-01-2001, 03:24 PM Apex-i S-AFC for fuel and timing regulation
The SAFC won't do anything about your timing. You'll need an ITC or piggyback ECU for that.

WRC WRX 10-01-2001, 04:33 PM ok so the ic wont give me any more power?
thats hard to believe
ok so that should i get im gonna start the buying soon?
btw whats the best mbc?
TurismoLou 10-01-2001, 05:23 PM 1.Exhaust
2.Rims and Tires
3.Unichip
4.Upgraded turbo
5.Gauges
I agree about the intercooler, unless you're going to have 400hp it's just a waste of money.
raj100 10-01-2001, 06:31 PM TurismoLou's plan looks good. The intercooler will give you more power if you are running more boost. I don't know what the efficiency is of the stock IC, but it's probably good for 5psi or so. Is't supposed to be 10%HP for 10 degrees cooler air (I think thats the relationship). Would an up pipe be a good mod along with Rims/tires, exhaust, guages, & turbo.
gixxerpunk 10-01-2001, 06:35 PM I talked to the guys at Cobb Tuning (I live in Dallas, TX so they are like 10min away) they said that the ECU will "learn it's way around the exhaust and intake" and it would be best if I changed the ECU first.
jwaters 10-02-2001, 04:00 PM With ANY mod plan, the first priority MUST be gauges! If you are playing around with the ECU and new turbos it is plain stupid to do so without proper instrumentation. Otherwise, you will never get even close to everything out of the more expensive mods and may find yourselve making the most expensive mod of all- a new motor.
gtguy 10-02-2001, 04:39 PM Sigh....
Tires
Suspension
Brakes
Power (mild or wild is your own choice).
That's the order, and the others are correct. The IC is just for show until you start making major mojo, engine-wise. I saw no fewer than seven WRXes at at the USGP, and have seen many around town. 98% of them still have the stock tires, which I find staggering to contemplate.
