I am getting a protune in a week and need you guys' opinion on types of plugs for VF34'd 2.0L WRX. I am thinking about getting one step colder copper plugs and can somone tell me what the differences are between ES and S?

NGK/Copper/BKR6ES/WRX/stock
NGK/Copper/BKR7ES/WRX/one step colder
NGK/Copper/BKR6E/WRX/stock
NGK/Copper/BKR7E/WRX/one step colder

Also, when I get these NGK plugs, do I need to gap the tip or do they come pregapped?

Thanks!

They don't come pregapped, so you do need to gap them to somewhere around 0.028". I'd go with the BKR6e or BKR7e. The "es" plugs are standard ngk plugs, while the "e" plugs are their v-power series of plugs (which are supposedly better). At 2 bucks a piece for the v-power, I'd definitely go with those...here is a link:

BTW, with your setup, I would guess it wouldn't hurt to go one step colder and go for bkr-7e, but I could be wrong...

Seems like none of local shops (advance auto parts and autozone) do not carry these plugs...

Yeah auto zone does not carry NGK. Try Kragen (kragen.com) aka Checker...you can order them online I believe.

Heat range 6 NGKs, whatever type you like.

Gapping plugs, at least checking them, is a given with every new set.

ok, I will check for gap distance when I pick them up tomorrow. Advance auto parts had them in stock in Albany.

I see that there are 3 types of Platinum one step colder plugs available. It seems like PFR7B is the most popular choice of all. Why is that?

NGK/Platinum/BKR7EGP/WRX/one step colder
NGK/Platinum/PFR7G/WRX/one step colder
NGK/Platinum/PFR7B/WRX/one step colder

For 270whp VF34's wrx, what's recommended gap for PFR7B NGK plugs? When I measured the gap, it was around 0.028".

I understand that for normal WRX, recommended gap is around 0.028 - 0.031".
