What common type of lubricant should I buy to use on the main shaft oil seal and front axle oil seal?

Another question about the main shaft oil seal, does the metal portion of the seal face the clutch?

The factoy manual said to use wheel bearing grease on the rear diff seals. I figured that was good enough for the front as well, so that's what I used.
