I'm going to get one of these 12" subs and put it in a ported box. Obviously there is a wealth of information on the Alpine Type-R woofer, but I havnt been able to find much about the Eclipse SW7200 or Memphis M-Class. Pricing aside (I would be paying about the same for the Eclipse and the Alpine, and about $50 less for the Memphis), what do you guys know about the Eclipse and Memphis?

Why ported vs sealed? Takes less room for a sealed box than a ported one.

Space isnt really an issue, and ported gets the better sound that I'm after.

it depends on your definition of better sound. A sealed box will be more acurate than a ported box. The ported box increases volume and sounds more boomy. I would take a sealed box over anything.

Thats what I meant, I will listen to both a ported and normal box, but in this thread I'd really like to know if anyone has had experience with the Eclipse SW7200.
