I got hit today and im wondering how i can get the money and do the repairs myself, does anybody have any experience working with insurance companies? do they give you less money if you say your gonna do it yourself? if so, is it a lot less? Do they come make sure its done? any info would be great.

you have to get a legit quote from a body shop, they will then probably send you a check. then do what you want, just be upfront with the shop first off, it is better if you know someone.

from my experience they just send the money to the shop not to you.

you have the right to ask for a check once a total has been determined. They may not want you to think that but you do. They'll do everything short of specifically saying that.
