The GT Spec splitter I have was made for my stock intercooler (about the size of a WRX'es and it cuts off a lot of the STI IC. I think a proper STI splitter would hit the low GC8 scoop. Does anyone have a solution?

Yeah, that's one option. Those splitters are kinda expensive though for something I'm just going to hack apart. I was hoping there would be a better solution... subbyspeed 04-05-2006, 01:27 AM Heres what i ended up doing. Find a stock GC block off plate for the hood scoop. Take some measurements. Cut initial hole in block-off plate test fit repeat till hole is in right spot, and large enough. At this point, you should be able to tell how much clearance you need between that and the i/c. Go to home depot, and find some weatherstrip/garagedoor sealer.. Cut to fit your application. Rivet that crap on Close hood. Drive. Enjoy saving 100 dollars. ;) Hurley 2.5 WRS 04-05-2006, 02:05 AM ^^^thats a really good idea^^^ do that :D powerlabs 04-05-2006, 12:17 PM Heres what i ended up doing. Proper splitters have a blade down the middle that directs some of the air futher back on the IC... subbyspeed 04-05-2006, 04:16 PM No splitter though... The entire core on mine is exposed, and sealed off from air getting around it. powerlabs 04-05-2006, 04:29 PM Down the middle? Do enlighten. Not quite sure if i know what your referring to. The entire core on mine is exposed, and sealed off from air getting around it. Yes, down the middle. Look carefully; its a blade that deflects air into the rear portion of the IC. http://www.powerlabs.org/images/jdmunderhood.jpg subbyspeed 04-05-2006, 06:04 PM ahh ok.. cool I thought you were talking about a stock peice having that.. powerlabs 04-05-2006, 06:28 PM ahh ok.. cool I thought you were talking about a stock peice having that.. The stock STI IC splitter has that. Hurley 2.5 WRS 04-05-2006, 06:34 PM you could leave a piece of the RS plate in it and bend it to be that middle plate i guess subbyspeed 04-05-2006, 08:15 PM thats cool. i think i'll live.. Maybe make improvements as time goes along. Thanks for the info :) |
