View Full Version : Scammed BIG by deadlystealthwrx
9vapors 04-07-2006, 02:51 PM Well folks, I am so pissed I am ready to go to jail pissed. I bought the motor from a guy on the forums, deadlystealthwrx. From the way he cleaned everything up, it looked like it was brand new. Once I took it to my machine shop to have the Crower cams installed, we started noticing some things...No headwork, and water in the heads. After that we took off the heads to see if there was in fact any forged pistons or sleeves, and there was just stock ej20 pistons, stock cylinders, stock everything, except with rust and sludge. My machine shop said that this looked like a "Katrina" motor, and at this point, I realize that I just got owned completely by a scammer. He is still selling things on the NASIOC forums, and for me this is just unreal. I am waiting to see if he will call me back, and if there could possibly be an explaination for this ****. I am so pissed, because I feel so stupid. Scammed out of $3,400. I am going to get my damn money back, in one way or another.
Check out what I was supposed to get...http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=933490
This is what I got instead, lmk if you see any brand new heads with a p&p or CP forged pistons...

So he pawns off the scam on someone else? Thats even more f'ed up.
Black-STi 04-07-2006, 04:27 PM So he pawns off the scam on someone else? Thats even more f'ed up.
Here is a quote from that thread, looks like it's not his fault:
"Well thanks for everyones support, he actually callled and he is cutting me a check immediately. Amazingly, this isn't his fault and in fact he was scammed. I guess he had the engine shipped to me right from the machine shop. He called and was extremely apoligetic, it seems that he is a stand up guy after all. Sorry for any upset it caused, and I will have something else in no time."
wrxzboost 04-07-2006, 04:34 PM So he pawns off the scam on someone else? Thats even more f'ed up.
not everyone that buys a block, takes it apart to double check the pistons, rods, and sleeves...just something to think about.
InfamousDX 04-07-2006, 05:01 PM not everyone that buys a block, takes it apart to double check the pistons, rods, and sleeves...just something to think about.
lol... well they should. if it's as important as a block, it's your duty to make sure it's fine.
lol... well they should. if it's as important as a block, it's your duty to make sure it's fine.
I agree... People need to KNOW what they are selling.
WRX-ERROR 04-07-2006, 05:15 PM Well I can kind of see how this happen.. I sold a brand new cell phone on ebay only to have the person claim I scammed them cause the camera part didn't work. I offered to have it fixed but she never bothered to email me back.
I'm just glad this is getting worked out.. I was about to tell 9vapor to pick me up on the way to this guys house to nicely pick up his block or money.
9vapors 04-25-2006, 04:13 PM Bringing this back because he hasn't sent me a check yet. He has told me that it was sent, then that he cancelled it and sent it next day, but he didn't remember the tracking number. Take note, and learn from my mistake, now I have to figure out how to sue this guy to get my money back. He is stupid because I have his address and information. One way or another, I will get it back...
azndrifter01 04-25-2006, 04:15 PM call ur credit card company or however u payed for it.. if u payed money order/cash ur kinda screwed.

dibblejr 04-25-2006, 07:32 PM He's probably one of the scammers bilking the Katrina Disaster Relief Funds too. I think he needs a military style blanket party.
How did he ship it to you?
orwrx 04-25-2006, 07:34 PM I think there is a guy with different username on Clubwrx.net selling the ****. WOW! I want that motor cuz waterproof.........
InfamousDX 04-25-2006, 07:35 PM Paid with a Certified check in Feb.
That means he committed mail fraud, I THINK. That's pretty serious actually.
dmacalot 04-25-2006, 08:20 PM 3,400 or his life, its that simple
nuhga 04-25-2006, 08:41 PM Im not a 'friend' but i have sold my ej205 to him. he drove from georgia to columbus to pick up/ get the motor installed on his car. He did get my motor install'ed on his car from someone I know.
He has been very responsive so far.
he paid me 500$ with cash, others by check. Check did bounce out and returned to me. However, he has been paying me back through paypal.
He just told me that he sold his tranny and waiting for payment and he will send me the rest. I'll let you guys know how it turns out asap.
sorry to hear about your motor =[ have you tried calling him ?

I have been calling him regularly, leaving messages and doing all that I can from here. I have been sympathetic to his BS, and for the most part, being really understanding. The motor I got is probably yours. The thing is that if he told me that he was trying to get the money together and paid me back what he could, I wouldn't care, but he tells me that the check is in the mail. I wait for about a week then call him and ask again, then he tells me I don't know, I will cancel it and send it again express. Then nothing again. I don't think he realizes what he is getting into...
9vapors 04-26-2006, 09:25 AM bump to stay on top and prevent anyone else from being scammed by him.
thomez 04-26-2006, 09:48 AM I'm having problems with this guy as well, I can always cancel my paypal/cc though
I was promised a tracking number a week ago and haven't got shat - I'll be calling him again today :furious:
brex16 04-26-2006, 09:55 AM thank god this didnt happen to me, i would already be at his front door. goodluck, i hope you get your money back, i know how pissed i would be if i were you.

Sounds like he is paying you with money from selling other people crappy parts...I see a set of headlights posted that he scammed someone on, this engine and I hate to see what the guy that bought his trans gets...

thomez 04-26-2006, 11:51 AM I left him a voice mail a bit ago. If I don't hear back soon I'll call my CC and cancel payment.
mlovro32 04-26-2006, 12:12 PM I left him a voice mail a bit ago. If I don't hear back soon I'll call my CC and cancel payment.
I wouldn't even wait for his call....judged by the way he is treating everyone else I wouldn't even mess around. Cancel it asap. Good luck to everyone else. I hate to see this stuff happen on here :(
TENAZ 04-26-2006, 12:15 PM Contact the FBI/internet fraud unit see if they can help.
In the way this transaction went it looks fraud;he can go to jail for that
good luck in get your money back.
Tenaz
toekneeyo 04-26-2006, 12:41 PM the guy is definitely deadly and stealthy
handyman28 04-26-2006, 12:59 PM Seeing as you have his name and address, contact his local Police Dept, ask for internet crime investigations, and report it. They will send someone knocking on his door. I know, because I got scammed by someone from Minnesota, sold me a McIntosh amp on Ebay & disappeared after payment, still chasing him tho. The police went to his job and he told them he want to work things out but never did. I will contact the Police Dept again soon.
wrxtool 04-26-2006, 01:16 PM $3400!!! buy a plane ticket, pack a ski mask/duct tape, buy a crowbar at the local hardware store near his house.
i can only lead the horse to water
of course i'm only playing y'all :D
ShaggyGT 04-26-2006, 01:29 PM Hey PM me that ******** info (phone#, address, ect.) I am resonably close to TN and can probably get a group of people together to make a trip to his house.
ducmaan748 04-26-2006, 01:32 PM **** man! that sucks, good luck.
9vapors 04-26-2006, 02:16 PM Bump for more people to read...
mikeyg 04-26-2006, 02:28 PM I feel sick for you. My best for your situation.
petawabit 04-26-2006, 05:34 PM bump becuase 9vapors needs to get compensated!
thomez 04-26-2006, 05:37 PM I still haven't heard back from him today. I know Paypal/CC gives you 30 days so I'll wait until tomorrow before cancellation. I'd like to give him a last chance to make things right but if not I'll just get the money back.
impreza_wrx_2003 04-26-2006, 07:30 PM Bump to the top.
I was scammed by another guy around the same area 2 years ago for around 1700 bucks for parts and cash, I wonder if its the same guy with a differant name, I really hope you get this guy.
Tristan
the_poser 04-26-2006, 08:29 PM What's this guys addy?
I was scammed by him also. we are supose to be doing an ECU swap my EcuTek for his + Cabb AP and 2 weeks later I'm still sithout a car. All I have is a number and address to a company that I think doesn't exsist.
I want my ECU or this guy to go DOWN!
handyman28 04-26-2006, 09:50 PM Paypal is nothing if he has no money in his bank account, just a FYI. As far as credit card goes, not much help there either, as you DID authorize the transaction, and Paypal will tell them they are just a third party, so they cannot be penalized by your CC company. Sorry, been there, been screwed. Paypal Sucks.
fenix_black 04-26-2006, 09:52 PM wow dude i would be driving there to beat some ***
good luck i hate scammers
thomez 04-26-2006, 09:53 PM If you pay for something via CC and it never shows up the CC company fights it out for you to my knowledge...
handyman28 04-26-2006, 09:55 PM Did you use Amex? they are the only one who REALLY protect the cardholder, thats why merchants HATE them. Most Visas & MC tell you too bad if you DID initiate the transaction and it was through a third party (like western union, paypal, etc)
handyman28 04-26-2006, 09:57 PM Don't get me wrong, if you have a good protection package, thats good. My Chase MC was not that good when I got screwed for $1275.00 on eBay.
brian_i 04-26-2006, 10:03 PM sorry bout your prob with this guy.hope you fiind him and permantly take his a** out... bump to keeping this thread alive to help others be warned!..
the_poser 04-26-2006, 10:14 PM I've been trying to call this guy all night and only getting busy signal. I sucks being screwed like this. My loss isn't quite as bad, but a heavy loss to me none the less
the_poser 04-26-2006, 11:09 PM has his name been added to the list of scammers yet?
davewrx2003 04-26-2006, 11:15 PM Hey man sorry about your loss but im in Tn for another two weeks soif you need and extra help..... ;)
i think that there names, address and phone numbers need to be put up on the forum. But only when there is a definate scam occuring.
Apart from naming and shaming them, they will get constantly harrassed and this may help as a deterent??
unloco187 04-26-2006, 11:31 PM Prank Call Time!!!!
the_poser 04-27-2006, 12:48 AM the number I have is 662-397-4350
but like I said it hasn't worked all night
the_poser 04-27-2006, 08:02 AM update: the guys phone number is now disconected
txjunglist 04-27-2006, 08:56 AM damn ,that is weak. I hope someone will curb him for the trouble he caused.
9vapors 04-27-2006, 10:29 AM I can't believe he disconnected his number. My blood is boiling. There is so much I want to say and so much info that I want to disclose to all, but I am not going to as we are trying to handle this legally. I hope everyone stays tuned, you too "John Allen" because I know you are reading this.
singincanary 04-27-2006, 11:09 AM If you need an attorney to write him a letter, let me know and I can send one out today if you fax me the info.
thomez 04-27-2006, 11:11 AM I am going to try to get money back through Paypal and the CC company first.... wtf this is horse***** !

WRX-ERROR 04-27-2006, 12:22 PM I can't believe he disconnected his number. My blood is boiling. I hope everyone stays tuned, you too "John Allen" because I know you are reading this.
Fck legal man. Road trip. Pick me up on the way down. I'm willing to be we can have your money or money's worth of parts by Monday morning. Sorry but $3400.00 is way too much for me to sit on my hands waiting for the legal system to work.
/bump
9vapors 04-27-2006, 12:31 PM If you need an attorney to write him a letter, let me know and I can send one out today if you fax me the info.
Well he claims his brother is an attorney, and I am sure that he is still reading what we post, so if it doesn't have any weight behind it, I am pretty sure he won't care. Thanks for trying to help though. We will see what the police and FBI internet crime bureau will do, we have plenty of evidence, and they already said that the addresses that we provided them with are valid, so they won't have to much trouble tracking him down. Just contact me and send me my money John Allen.
his brother being an attorney won't do squat when he has so many people filing complaints against him with the PD...except that he won't need a public defender  you should gather all the other guys he's screwed on this board and coordinate efforts to both the FBI and PD. also, if you paid through the postal system, i believe you can also file a complaint with the local post office and they will investigate. it is mail fraud and a federal offense.
thomez 04-27-2006, 12:38 PM I'd rather just get what I paid for... as promised in writing and verbally.
its up to you man, but experience says that in cases like this, the only thing that works is pressure and using all the tools available to you increases the odds in your favor that the scammer will make good on his promise. you can see through all the various people scammed, lied to, delivered bad goods, etc. that this seller is a engaging in some serious bad acts. but hey, if you believe he'll make good to you, more power to you. some people believe in santa, as well
thomez 04-27-2006, 12:50 PM I'm not believing he will do so - I just said that is all I want... without this hassle :(
9vapors 04-27-2006, 02:31 PM Yeah well, I am out $3,400, another guy is out $1000. Don't be stupid man, he disconnected his phone, he is a scammer. Cancel whatever you have to, or you will be another victim. I wanted things to be easy too, and I gave him the opportunity to make them that way, he chose to be a thief.
atomicapples 04-27-2006, 03:36 PM damn.. messed up...
ScoobyDooo 04-27-2006, 04:01 PM good luck...sorry to hear that

9vapors 04-28-2006, 08:20 AM I sent 2160 out and got nothin in return...
Thomez, 3 of us already got the ball moving against him, if you want to be included PM me. The more the better with someone like this as it might make the FBI move a little faster.
anthonyrb98 04-28-2006, 10:25 AM all, if you have any of his contact info, including address, let me know. i live in memphis and he is a local (supposedly). he's had stuff shipped to different addresses, not just in memphis, but in mississippi as well. if it is northern mississippi, he's only about an hour away from memphis. i'll see what i can do.

speedracer500 05-02-2006, 10:06 PM Sue him. That's fraud by definition.
We have to find him first. Disconnected phone numbers and phony addresses make himt hard to track down. If anyone here has ever met him or has any other information, then please contact either 9vapors or I. We are doing what we can but it is very frustrating. Seems to be a dead end everywhere we look.
Mr Ian 05-02-2006, 10:55 PM bump for this great community sticking together agains people trying to mess this thing up
handyman28 05-03-2006, 09:28 AM Scammers are hoping you would get tired and quit your efforts, DO NOT GIVE IN!

SportsInjectionR 05-03-2006, 02:58 PM 9Vapors-
You should post this guys address on here. I'm sure that anything that may happen as a result is just karma biting this guy in the ass. Obviously posting his phone number caused him to change his number because he was harassed so bad.
Ever seen American History X? I think a good old fashioned curb stomp would do the trick. (no racist connotation here)
Good luck dealing with this *******, he deserves to be crippled for the rest of his life.

saab-on-the-cobb 07-16-2006, 08:10 AM thank god this didnt happen to me, i would already be at his front door. goodluck, i hope you get your money back, i know how pissed i would be if i were you.
I have read this entire thread, and I MUST say, that this is VERY bad advice.
Show up at his door?
What if the f$cker has a .50 cal rifle? Or an AR-15?
Is this really worth A) Your life or B) Going to priosn over?
Seriously, persue legal action immediately.
Don't be a dipstick and get hurt or injure him!
This thread would CERTAINLY be all the evidence needed to prove you were the assailant.
Also: What means was it shipped by?
If it was not shipped the USPS, that's NOT mail fraud. It's just fraud. Internet fraud, perhaps as well.
Do you have PROOF that this is the motor he sold you? I.E., photos he emailed, or a signed document with the vin/serial number of the motor?
If you do, this is an open and shut case.
Contact your local attorney general, and see what recourse you have. This guy is likely to have a history of ripping folks off.
If all else fails, think of this as an expensive course in the school of life.
Kharma will bite that crook badly. It always happens! :furious:

Not sure if he is here right now, or will be again, but his new screen name is eddie1982. Be sure to compare eddie's car to deadlystealthwrx's, and notice his new fmic, yeah I probably paid for that...
Start here if you are bored, and see how we all came to this conclusion, which led to a phone call where I confirmed it was him. He has a very distinct voice...

Ignorant mob mentality. Are you retarded? Judging by the use of 4-5 ellipses (there should only be three "...") I will venture that, yes my friend, you are retarded.
If you weren't involved, stay out of it. Further recourse from uninvolved parties is only going to hinder things. It seems like things are going the right direction, don't attempt to deter that. To the OP, I wish you the best and hopefully things are resolved well.
Thanks, we are trying to handle it in a way that might actually benefit us and the community, not make things worse, or end up getting in trouble ourselves. Trust me, I would like to go down there and break his back and stomp his guts out, but that is not the real world we live in. It will be just as satisfying to have him put behind bars, and to get my money back.

Paypal says: " If the guy is going to use his acount again, he has to pay the amounts to paypal everybody wantīs back!"
What a great deal! :(
I do not understand, that paypal or eBay canīt refund from their bankaccounts or creditcards, as they do charge us the provision for the sold items or charge money for transactions!
It must be possible to get the money back, how can it be that there are all details for paypal and they do nothing?!?! :(

Off topic ---- Paypal is a scam....Their dispute/resolution crap sucks.
saab-on-the-cobb 09-25-2006, 09:09 PM Off topic ---- Paypal is a scam....Their dispute/resolution crap sucks.
Actually it is on topic!
Yes, PayPal is the world's largest scam artist.
"deadlyfastwrx" boy pales in comparison.
I have had 130 + eBay sales and purchases.
I have had about 50 Audiogon.com sales.
I have 100% feedback on audiogon and eBay (I was even a power seller for a while!), but when I have had to deal with paypal (an eBay company, mind you), they have ALWAYS had some loophole to deny me my funds.
I was almost defrauded of a Rolex watch I sold on eBay to a gentleman in Italy. Customs in Italy "delayed" the package, and he filed a dispute with his credit card thinking I'd stiffed him out of the watch.
PayPoo debited the money from my account, even though I had receipts, and scans of the shipping label, etc. and RETURN RECEIPT with a postage endorsement on it from the post office. (USPS does not provide internet trackable shipping to Italy.)
Three weeks later, the guy received the Rolex. I received a SIGNED return receipt. So he had a full refund, and my watch.
I sent paypal a copy of the return receipt, and received an email claiming that the dispute was closed, and that PayPal hade made their final decision.
I emailed them about twenty times, explaining that I had LEGAL PROOF that the package was accepted by the purchaser INCLUDING an email from him, admitting that he had the watch in his posession!
I received an email saying "...we are sorry, but this dispute has been closed, and the appeal can not be considered."
Luckily, the guy in Italy must have had a concience, because he Western Unioned me the loot after another month or two.
Talk about sewating bullets! This is only one of the many HORRENDOUS problems I have had with paypal.
What is this contributing to the post, you might ask???
HERE IS WHAT I HAVE LEARNED about safely buying/selling with paypal:
1) If buying with paypal: Make sure your balance is ZERO dollars, and then pay with your credit card. If you make a non-ebay purchase, and receive shoddy goods, they will rule in THE SELLER's favor! Using a credit card allows you to file with the credit card company, who makes paypoo their bitch, and give you the money back. (This is why paypal always asks you to pay via your checking account! They offer you "buyer protection up to 1000 dollars," every time, and ask if you are SURE you want to use your card instead of checking account.) That way, when you buy a fossilized turd in a box advertised as a prehistoric Brontosaurus bone, payay can say "we do not guarantee the item, only its RECEIPT." If you get non-working brakes on Nasioc, for instance, paypoo only cares that you got brakes. They rule in the seller's favor.
B: AGAIN: ALWAYS PAY WITH A CREDIT CARD ON PAYPAL! ! ! PERIOD. If you use checking, you're as good a screwed if you get faulty goods.
2) A: If SELLING with paypal: ALWAYS ship to the "confirmed" address ONLY, unless the receiver has PERFECT feedback on eBay, Nasioc, etc., and has been established for many years with MANY feedbacks. NEVER ship to someone with low feedback's alternate address. Period. Paypal won't cover you if you do. In fact, if they have no feedback, ask for a POSTAL money order. You can cash it at the post office, even on Saturday. Many sellers are anxious for immediate payment, which is why paypoo is a mega-monster company now. When in doubt, don't accept PayPal (ESPECIALLY from overseas buyers!)
B: Always use a shipping service that provides INTERNET TRACKABLE tracking. It is PayPal policy. (Actually, it's one of about 1000 "policies.") No tracking number? You lose! When and if you ship overseas, ONLY USE a courier that provides INSURED, internet trackable shipping! (UPS, FedEx, etc.) If you don't, you are giving the package away.
C: If you receive a "pending" payment, or e-check via paypal, DON'T mail the package until 10 days after the transaction is "complete." If you ship the package 1st, they can cancel the check, and keep your goodies.
D: AGAIN: When in doubt, ask for a US Postal money order, especially for overseas/foreign buyers.
Paypal can be great if you need to pay quickly, or sell in a hurry. But BEWARE! They are not in it for YOUR protection. If they refunded every buyer for a blown turbo, fake Gucci purse, or rusty tongue ring, they would go out of business! THAT is why they push you to use your confirmed bank account rather than your credit card.
The only people on earth who can push paypal around are the CREDIT CARD companies! (Why do you think they are getting into the credit card business now? lol) "Pay with your paypal credit card." "Buyer protection." It's all one big scam if you don't get what you ordered.

If you get non-working brakes on Nasioc, for instance, paypoo only cares that you got brakes.

PA04STI 09-27-2006, 02:32 AM That's why I always use credit. Only thing Paypal helps is giving me a way to pay people using a credit card and a receipt I can keep in my email account.
Don't use PayPal as a means to protect use credit they will protect...
I hope someone gets this LOSER
Matt

Bondm 12-20-2006, 03:47 PM see. this is where hollywood screws me over. stupid hollywood happily ever after endings made me deluded enough to believe that at the end of this thread i would see the scammer in handcuffs crying...stupid hollywood...:)
subymanny04 12-27-2006, 02:20 PM man, hope you get your dough back.
seems like there are more and more people getting scammed lately. jeez!
i second that. sucks its so hard to make an honest deal with ppl im always scared of getting scammed myself.
Magnum626 12-28-2006, 12:52 AM ^^I hear ya...read their posts/threads started. See if they even post in their local forum, if anyone else knows em. Trader rating. PMs with questions and recent pics. I get so paranoid as well.
Bump for the news media to get him through myspace... :)
garagedefeat 12-28-2006, 01:10 AM is this dude really in Argentina? I have connections there if so. PM me if you need some help.
This probably goes without saying, but why give $$ to someone upfront? I tried that before, and, even though i had TONS fo good transactions, there's always that one that burns. Mine involved the Russian mafia, so be careful out there guys and gals...
I don;t send any $$ out to individuals without getting the goods unless i Know them. Sound dumb? Why? It's pretty dumb to send $$ to anybody "in good faith" anymore with stories like these and what i've been through. I hate to be so distrusting, but I really think it's the only way to fly in the world of internet scammers. Think about it: is there REALLY an easier way for lowlifes like this with multiple IP's to make $2k, $3k, or more?
I tend to shy away from the "deals" and just look for things i can't get through a reputable vendor on the boards. It's hard, but it's the best prescription for sanity i have found ;)
good luck-
subymanny04 12-28-2006, 04:08 PM i say there should be a rule. if u scam someone and there are local honest NASIOC members around there they should go out n pay him a visit =) if u know what i mean.
subymanny04 12-28-2006, 04:08 PM yeh i cant find myself sending cash to ppl other than vendors without feeling so scared like oh god what did i just get myself into what did i buy what did i get is it in good condition whats goin on. you know?
subymanny04 12-28-2006, 04:09 PM so far ive only dealth with honest ppl on here which is good tho. hopefully that will continue due to threads like this that tell us about scammers. u should have a sticky with scammers real names and such so ppl wont send money to those ppl.
Infra_red 01-02-2007, 09:18 PM Bump. I hope somebody get their $$$ back or maybe just have him driving around with a handicapped sticker for the rest of his life.
9vapors 01-04-2007, 02:26 AM Still nothing guys. The police know where he is, but are waiting for some reason. I feel like he is mocking everyone by keeping a MySpace page...
Flip C 01-07-2007, 04:10 AM Post his myspace info and all other info you find out about him. Just like the guy in New York did over the Sidekick cell phone theft.
Ruined their world.

getting solid evidence to nail him for a long time.
dibblejr 01-07-2007, 08:02 AM If I were you I would be talking to the state attorney general. I have been in your shoes and you need to start throwing some weight around, the police are going to stonewall you. Contact a senator in your area.
They are probably going to tell you at some point that it is a civil matter not a criminal matter.
dont let that happen to you stay on the police, inform them that you will go to the newspaper and talk to a news investigator. Once I started throwing in some names my case was taken to court.
Jay-R
