View Full Version : JDM STi hose info
kheff46 04-07-2006, 06:43 PM JDM sti hoses for the radiators differ from all subaru models. there is no oem replacement that routes the same way. from experience i speak, heed the warning. but i did find similar hoses that with minor trimmin will fit. $10 also! sorry STI's are just too much $$!!!! -keith
powerlabs 04-07-2006, 07:16 PM So what hoses did you end up using?
I too found out that the stock 2.5RS lower radiator hose is a tad too short, so I ordered an STI hose kit from Ebay and hopefully that will work.
kheff46 04-07-2006, 07:48 PM i have no clue what the hoses are from. i just dug thru every hose in stock and found ones with the bends i need. they were not exactly the same(1 too long, 1 weird bend) but close enough. neither pinch when they are routed in the correct spot. i can ask what those part numbers were from, and repost for all to see.
did your top hose fit ok(RS)? you using JDM radiator?
johnkaldar 04-10-2006, 04:00 PM I would like to know also. I haven't hooked up my rad yet.
chudlo 04-14-2006, 12:38 AM So, it doesnt matter what radiator your using, say an 02 wrx one, the stock wrx hoses wont work?
Does using the JDM radiator make it any easier to find hoses?
kheff46 04-14-2006, 10:39 AM im using the JDM radiator. its not the same hose as USDM anything. in SCC mag. they use the RS or legacy hoses with a USDM WRX radiator, and just trim a little bit to make them fit. im not sure where the holes are in those rad.'s compared to my JDM. but JDM is hard to find hoses for definately!--keith
chudlo 04-14-2006, 02:28 PM Thanks for the info.
I just decided to look at the swap forum for the first time, since I am having to do a swap my self. My wrx motor bit the dust and I have a, hopefully, complete Ver. 8 drivetrain on the way.
I am trying to get all the loose bits together so that I can get running again as soon as possible.
I miss my car. :(

I was just wondering what the difference is in the JDM radiator compared to a wrx one? Is it much larger/better cooling do you think?
powerlabs 04-14-2006, 03:13 PM I was just wondering what the difference is in the JDM radiator compared to a wrx one? Is it much larger/better cooling do you think?
It is a lot bigger than the RS one.
kheff46 04-14-2006, 08:18 PM im gonna look at it compared to my friend mark's asap, just to see. but im gonna guess same size as wrx personally. if bigger it'll handle more heat load, but better cooling? if its better alum or something maybe.
and supermoose has a notion the USDM legacy 2.2t hoses may be the ticket for replacements. i didn't have that one for reference at parts store. im gonna try and check that tomorro and get the hose# applications from my finds. -keith
powerlabs 04-17-2006, 12:37 AM Here we go: I picked up this Version 5/6 hose kit off Ebay, in the hopes that it will allow me to mount an STI radiator on my RS. Trouble is; I can only identify where 2 of the hoses go. Could someone be so kind as to point out to me what hose goes where???

kheff46 04-17-2006, 01:43 PM yeah, two look right, not sure what the others are yet. i'll look later. - keith
x4511 aa000 - top hose
x4511 aa010 - bottom hose
these numbers were hooked up thru the swapstarr himself. i may try and order these if/when i go to parts store, and return the ones i bought already. -keith
powerlabs 04-17-2006, 02:05 PM I think:
Top Left and Bottom Right = Radiator top and bottom hoses
Long skinny hoses on Bottom left: Coolant reservoir to radiator.
The turbo coolant hose is already in the car.
No clue what the other ones do.
UTCiv 04-17-2006, 02:15 PM Are those from the upper reservior to the engine, and one to go into the coolant overflow?
