View Full Version : why wont my swap work.....
spoonfedb18a1 04-08-2006, 04:39 PM ...........it has been over a year now...........i can drive it but i am having to borrow a pulse from another injector in order for it to run.
car-1998 2.5rs
motor-is a 1995 jdm wrx ej20g.
we put the jdm harness and ecu in the car. did all the wiring but for some reason it will only run on 3 injectors unless i borrow a pusle ground from another injector, then it will fire.
there is something telling my ecu(perhaps a wire in the wrong place) not to send out a pulse to that injector.
the ecu is fine.
we have tried a new one.
the injectors and cylinders are fine.
what wire could be in the wrong place to cause this problem.
it runs but like it is in some sort of limp mode.
also the CEL for" pressure exchange solenoid valve" is flashing......could that be the problem...???
please every1 i need help asap.
thanks,
Andrew
note, my car has been to 3 professional wiring places and none of them could figure it out....

spoonfedb18a1 04-10-2006, 12:57 AM we re wired the whole thing.....we did something wrong twice.
maybe i should buy another complete harness for the jdm wrx and the usdm 2.5rs and send them off to be fixed together by a professonal such as rallispec......
how about this
run one new wire from the ecu pni direct to injector and the other straight to the battery see if it fires
borked injector driver perhaps?
spoonfedb18a1 04-10-2006, 08:32 AM the injector is fine and the cylinder, and we have also already tried that method.....lol
it is very wired, is there any other wire we might have in the wrong place that would cause this...?
injector driver .. not injector
the ecu closes the circuit to turn the injector on if the "relay" (injector driver?) in the ecu was bad you could try all sort of things and get nothing
do you have access to a scope
look at the output of the ecu for that injector
XENONSVX 04-10-2006, 01:51 PM I had the same issue w/ my swap, turned out the injector driver in the ECU was bad. You have a different driver for each injector!
to test:
unplug your ecu & your injector
Find the pin on the ecu for the injector that's not fireing
OHM test that wire from your ecu plug to the plug on the injector
This will make sure your wiring is correct
IF this passes go on
Turn the car to the ACC possition
You should show 12V to BOTH sides of the injector
If all that checks out and your not droping from 12V to ground on the signal wire from the ecu to the injector you need a new ecu
spoonfedb18a1 04-11-2006, 09:03 AM it has to be fine b/c we tested it by taking it out and putting it in my friends impreza with the same yeear swap and ecu......and it worked fine, then we put his in and it did the same thing...ran like crap, also we even tried an apexi power fc comander.
XENONSVX 04-11-2006, 09:39 AM ok, so if your ECU is fine, then you have a wiring issue, find the pin on the ecu for what ever #injector isn't dropping to ground, ohm test that wire to your injector, if its not going to your injector run a wire from your ecu straight to the injector and see if it works
spoonfedb18a1 04-11-2006, 12:31 PM we tried that but it still doest give it a ground.....it has power but no pulse ground
I asked this in your other thread, but never got a response: How are you checking for the pulsed ground signal at the injector pin?
Try this:
Unplug the ECU; measure ohm between the pulsed ground pin AT THE ECU CONNECTOR and a chassis ground point. It should be infinite.
If that is ok;
Unplug the ECU; measure resistance between the pulsed ground pin AT THE ECU CONNECTOR and the 12v injector reference line AT THE ECU CONNECTOR. It should be the resistance of the injector coil. Somebody will have to help me on what this should be...guessing 10-14ohms

spoonfedb18a1 04-11-2006, 04:50 PM sorry rob, i will go check it when i get back home, thanks......i will let you know, thanks guys for being supportive.

Chewy 04-12-2006, 05:07 PM Not sure if this will give any ideas but I'll post anyways. When rallispec did my wiring, they over looked a diode that wasn't used on the pre-face lift cars. We had to use jumper wire to get the car to start. It wasn't until I brought it down to them till they found it. They also found that I had a bad injector too. Too bad I didn't record what he said about the diode part b/c it was all german to me.
My car is a 95 L with 96 WRX swap. I have the sedan turbo(16G) and ecu.
