Guys,
Will my tach and O2 sensors (I have a '95 L) work when I swap in an EJ20G? I'm planning to use the EJ20G engine harness and ECU and splice it into my stock harness. Is there anything in my dash that would not work with this setup? Currently my tach redlines at 6K - is this a problem?
Thanks!
tach yes ...
o2 maybe
redline nope
you do realize that there is no "engine" harenss its one harness under the dash.. you have to split both of them apart and remerge

IIRC, O2, no. I would have to double check the wiring diagrams, but I think the EJ20G O2 sensor has an extra wire in it...
Jaxx, when I said engine harness I meant the part of it that connects the engine and the ECU. Matt, if it is indeed the case that JDM O2 sensors are different, what are my options?
yes i understand. the part that connects the engine to the ecu is the same "part" that connects everything else the harness is integrated
There is a loomed set of wires that goes from the engine, through the firewall, to the ECU (and possibly to other places.) I'm keeping all my underdash wiring. We are talking about the same thing really. Any idea on what other people have done with their tachs then they did the swap? Just ignore the marked redline and simply remember where it is?

throught the fire wall then merges with everything else.. there is no "engine" connector on the ecu
yes just remember where the red line is ..or just let off the gas when the rev limiter hits .. :P

Actually, they do run through the car differently. On the '95l, there truly is a "engine" portion of the harness that can be removed by itself, and it does come through the firewall. It's maybe 5 feet long and has everything for the ECU. Then there is a pair of connectors, under the dash, that are similar in function to the SMJ, and continue on to the gauges, and other stuff like the OBD connectors, etc.
On the Ej20G harness, that same engine/ECU portion of the harness will run from the ECU, across the dash and through the driver's side fender and plug into the engine between the battery and the wiper fluid. What will still come through the grommet in the firewall will be the boost control, O2, can, crank and knock sensors, and the ignitor. The EJ20G does not plug into the back of the engine like the NA cars do. And it is a single harness as opposed to a couple harnesses as found in the l...
