Why are you already changing the fluid on an 06? If you're having problems shifting use your warranty, that's what it's for. Otherwise if it's ok there is no reason to change the fluid anytime soon.

Aside from what Mulder said, the cocktail is for the sucky 02-05 single cone synchro issue, so replacing your fluid for the expensive cocktail with your dual cone synchro would be double dumb. Research twice.....buy once.

Yeah isn't this done around 30k miles? Anyway, I would just purchase some genuine subaru transmission fluid and throw in a can of bg conditioner.

On my 04 its a T70 torx bit, I had to buy it from England or something, no one had it. You can get it off without that but its rough and I wouldnt recomend it. If your having that much trouble with shifting on an 06 you either have something wrong or you are shifting wrong, fluid change wont help.

Did you guys ever think some people do fluids as PREVENTATIVE, not CORRECTIVE things? Perhaps the guy drives a lot. Not everyone is in the 15K miles or less per year category. (Hint, my almost 2 year old work van has 122K+ miles on it)

just stick with 75W-90 dino gear oil and you will be fine..
don't try to be fansy about synthetic and cocktail if you don't know what you're doing.

Ok Ok, flame on me, bash on me, i guess, lol

I changed to the cocktail today, and does it feel smooth
Really, I can shift into reverse and it feels smooth, shift into first and it's smooth, 3rd is like butter
I like this mix

I couldn't find a t70 so I bought a t60 and got it off, hope that helps others

Oh yea, I did the rear diff and put in some redline 70-90, but I noticed when i drained the rear, it came out kinda gravy thick-like, and gray, wasn't transparent, is that bad or normal

I was about to do the cocktail on my 06 now at 30,000 miles but if you really don't need it then i guess i'll be fine with dino. Any idea where I can buy some dino tanny and diff fluid?

At pretty much any auto parts store... you need a GL-5 rated 75w90 gear oil.
