Hi. Does stage2 run too rich for everyday drive? is it recommended to run stage1 for normal day to day drive? is it ok to drive stage1 with tbe catless? I don't want to build up carbon and raise compression running stage2

If you have TBE it is a better idea to run stage 2. Many people have been running stage 2 for a long time without any problems. Your stock EM runs very rich under WOT, I would guess probably even more so than AP.

The map notes say no. Wastegate duty cycles will be worlds different and lead to irratic, un-reliable boost when running a stage one map with a stage two setup
One of these day's I'll compile all the map notes and make a thread, I think that would be worth a sticky if anyone else wants to beat me to it. :)

During normal around town driving, your ecu will be in closed loop operation and afr's will be kept lean at stoich. Once you romp on the throttle, and your ecu is thrown into open-loop, according to Cobb's site, with their Stage 1 the afr is 11.2:1 on boost tapering to 10.8:1 by redline. With their Stage 2 set-up, the afr is slightly leaner at 11.4:1 on boost tapering to 11.0:1 at redline.

FYI, this is a caution that Cobb lists in bold on their Map notes for the 2006 WRX Stage 1 - I don't see it listed in the STI Map notes but it may still apply:
CAUTION!!! DO NOT RUN ANY Stage1 MAPS WITH ANY TYPE OF HIGHER FLOWING DOWNPIPE OR TURBO-BACK EXHAUST ON YOUR 2006 WRX. THE Stage1 MAPPING HAS VERY HIGH WASTEGATE DUTY CYCLES SETTINGS TO TRY AND BRING BOOST ON AT LOWER RPMS. THESE SETTINGS WILL INDUCE SEVERE BOOST SPIKING AND WILL OVERSHOOT THE TARGETS CAUSING BOOST SEARCHING. THESE SPIKES CAN CAUSE ENGINE DAMAGE. IF YOU HAVE A HIGHER FLOWING DOWNPIPE OR TURBO-BACK EXHAUST SYSTEM ON YOUR 2006 WRX, PLEASE USE THE APPROPRIATE Stage2 MAPS.
