Hi all I'm new to these forums but a regular on bimmerforums. I bought an '02 bugeye wagon and went nuts a few months ago and with bolt-ons including:

-headers/catless uppipe
-catless downpipe
-bar and plate TMIC
-SAMCO hoses
-Ultralight underdriven crank pulley
-HKS SSQ BOV

No ECU tuning.....I already blew the motor . I'm buying a <600mile STi motor having it installed at Drivers Image in Skokie (Chicago) Il into a wagon with 78k miles (service up to date). Are there any issues swapping a 2.5 STi motor in to factory drivetrain other than wiring harness & ecu?

Thanks for the input

Matt

I'm assuming he means Drive By Wire? STi's are DBW, i think the new WRX is too (i'm not sure).

I just did this swap in a 02rs....everything swaps over easy.

The DBW throttel aint hard to mount:
You will need to fab up a plate to addapt it to the stock mount ( the blot spacing is different ) besides that everything basicly bolted rite up. I also had to swap back my power stearing pump cuz the hose connection is different by 90degrees. You will have to either swap the harnesses totaly or splice the two togather.....rilly only one branch is needed to be grafting in to the STi harness. Contact Zephyr250 he does a lot of harness grafting ( you send him two he sends back one grafted ) plug and play after that for the most part. The total swap took me about 30+ hours and I had to swap the crossmember too. I had wireing issues after I was done :( ...bad grounds and hots ect...

The stock WRX 5-speed is garbage. If you wish to drive the 2.5 at its fullest, then plan for a tranny swap.

you have to swap in the front axles too if you do a tranny swap right?

and how do you know what part of the harness has to be grafted over?
