hey all,

i've done some searching regarding knock, and its hard to come to a conclusion i read about that ecuExplorer, and im trying to get a hold of a pc (only macs here :alien: ) so maybe i can log and post the results but in the mean time.

a week ago i installed cobb stage 2.5 (vf34, pinks) along with a perrin turbo inlet and that ebay cast y-pipe (running vf34 91 oct 1.30) im in cali btw... prior was at stage 2 (stromung dwg dp, stock 3rd cat, greddy evo).

well i think i'm getting some knock in the upper rpm range, starting approx 5k rpms. i've done two runs WOT runs since i first heard it, and i hear the normal turbo sounds, but i've also heard what sounds like the "tin can bb rattling" sounds once i get into that rpm range, the sounds of the wastegate and what i assume is knock are similar but i think there is enough of a difference and i also can sorta feel it in the pedal i think, needless to say i've let off immediately because i've never heard that before, and it kinda freaked me out.

super frustrating to say the least, because my stage 2 was excellent as far as reliability, i had no issues whatsover for over 15k miles.

so basically i'm asking what are my options to turn this into a reliable setup? would a protune be able to eliminate the knocking, where i can safely traverse the upper rpm range? or is the gas the biggest factor here. should i go buy like many bottles of octane booster and see if it goes away? i'm kinda bummed about the whole thing. :(

just some other additions, car isn't overboosting, used the stock restrictor, i may have a tiny drip of a coolant leak because i noticed some white residue on the tank. seem to be no other leaks anywhere in the system otherwise. um i think that covers most of the bases...

i may have access to a pc this weekend to get some logs, but if taking it in to get a protune will make everything golden i may not bother.

the cali gas isnt helping.... a protune would probably work wonders for you... or you could put octane booster or do a 70/30 with 100...
