Is it safe to use the hwg maps here with our elevation, what is the difference, maybe a higher boost rate? is there a big power difference between the 91vs the 93 octane map. cobb only claims 5 extra hp or torque i forget.

note running on a 02 wrx at high elevation (mile high denver!)

i dont think there is a big power increase between the 91 and 93 maps... like you said cobb says 5hp. id go with that... do you need the hwg?

i dont have a boost gauge so i dont know what im hitting for max boost. A lot of guys here in Co are using the hwg

have you used read live boost? try it and see what you are hitting.. you shouldnt use it unless youre not hitting target...

What exactly is the HWG map anyway? How does it differ from the regular Stg2 91/93 maps?

for people that cant hit target boost.... read the map notes on cobbs website....

I did, but it really wasn't clear to me why some people might not hit target boost. What exactly in the mapping is different?

wow....some people need to research don't even get stage 2 if u can't answer these questions urself NEXT TOPIC!

oh gosh, i haven't bothered to read about the hwg maps and i loaded stage 2 into my ECU... will i be punished by the ECU police?

it probably took more effort for you to be an ass than to actually provide the answer. nice.

I think the hwg map makes the wg stay closed longer to reach a little higher boost. I don't know all the parameters or what else is diff.
PS I think some people are just addicted to the word "search" :p Might as well get used to it. You will be told again sometime in another thread.

Posted this last year:

After doing a ported turbo and uppipe install I have had low peak boost, 14psi. For about a month and a half I have been using Cobb's realtime HWG map on top of 91oct stage 2 base map. I later reflashed the RT map to 91 oct and adjusted the actuator arm. These are my perceptions and results comparing the two methods.

1. HWG didn't increase my "peak" boost it was still around 14psi.
2. HWG did increase boost overall, meaning that I was seeing higher boost all the time. Examples: Under load up a hill the HWG gave me 2 to 3 more pounds of pressure than the actuator adjustment under the same conditions. Also boost came on sooner and stayed higher under partial throttle and everyday driving. (yes the engine was more responsive and more fun to drive)
3. The extra boost under everyday driving was causing worse gas mileage. After the actuator arm adjustment I'm seeing a 2-4 mpg increase.
4. Actuator arm adjustment did increase my "peak" boost.
5. WOT performance is better with the actuator arm adjustment.

Interesting observations.
