Hey folks. I just turned 3000 miles on my STI. However I am having a hard time finding part numbers for an aftermarket oil filter. Can anyone reccomend a good aftermarket filter (and part number) as well as what oil are you folks using? Typically on my other Sube's I was using Mobil 1 20w50 for the summer. Thanks in advance!

The OEM filter is better than most you will find.

However if you're looking for something you can buy at the parts store, you simply cannot beat the Purolator PL14610.

If you post in the right forum and read the sticky threads in the right forum, you'd have an answer immediately as well as not clog the forums with your dribble. I'll move this, next time search around!

I third and fourth the Purolator L14160 or the PureOne PL14610. Good stuff, good filter. Larger than stock, pretty good quality. :)

It is the same thread size. The PL14612 is just a little longer than the PL14610 (more capacity) that's all, but both screw in just fine. ;)

I've used the Purolator PL14610 and the PL14612 exclusively in my 2006 STI. The differences between the two is that the PL14610 is roughly 5/8" longer, which I now use in the summer.
