I installed a UR underdrive pulley on my MY01 RS and had quite a time with it- the bolt that holds the stock pulley on is a b*tch and a half. Me and my friend broke two ratchets trying to get it off. So heres a tip to anyone who wants to put one on: When you get to the step where you take off the stock pulley's bolt, start the car, push in the brake all the way, then shut it off. Otherwise, when you try to push the brake it wont go all the way down and theres NOO way to get that sucker off. Hold the brake until the person working under the hood has the pulley off COMPLETELY. and make sure the cars in 5th. Thats how i prevented breaking a 3rd ratchet :)

Anyway, no that the pulleys on, i love it. Bog when starting is virtually eliminated, and the engine pulls better throughout the powerband, esp. in the low gears. Id reccomend one to anybody

thanks for the info, but Im still kinda confused, so what you do is take all the belts off then have someone sit in the car put it in 5th and press the brakes, do this while holding the bolt with your ratchet, is this right?
Thanks for any advice I should get my pulley today I hope..if not Monday

Yup AndyM and that's exactly what dave1rr (another i-clubber and my friend) did for me...he's way stronger than I am, so I did the brake thing while he loosen the bolt up! He did a GREAT JOB :D

Good Luck to you

i put mine on by myself, i.e., no one holding the brakes. i don't under stand that step. anyway, i just used an 18" breaker bar and about 220 lbs of body weight.;)

No kidding, just get yourself a breaker bar before you start folks. You get @12 inches of leverage from a 1/2 inch ratchet=not much, vs. 24 inches of leverage from a 2 foot breaker bar. thats twice the force and in you case less expensive than two ratchets.
Get the right tools before you begin a job and you can reduce the time to do the job.
