I just installed Kartboy short shifter with bushings, but I didn't feel that much of difference :( and it's very short in length.
I like c's shifter on my brother's silvia, it's really the best
I'll go for another shifter, but what you guys recommended ??

If you didnt fell much of a difference, buying another shifter won't help as Kartboy is as short as it comes in terms of throws. There may be one or two ghetto companys that sell shifters with a slightly shorter throw (by maybe 10%), but you will never feel 10% over what you currently have.
Also, you cannot compare a Subaru shifter to anything be it a Silvia, Dodge RAM, or 57 Chevy. All shifters are different and there is NOTHING you can do to make it feel like another car.

Thanks Unabomber..
I'll be ok with this shifter, but do you think it'll be bad idea to weld adapter to the shifter to become higher. Or I need to get higher knob ??

Make sure that the bolt for the lever is not overtightened, it should only be tightened to 8 ft-lbs which isn't much. If you don't have a torque wrench, that is just a bit past snug. The lever should pivot freely without excess play, if it is too tight the shifter will feel stiff and overly notchy.
Also be sure to lubricate the bolt and lever bushings before assembly with a white lithium grease or equivalent.

I would give it some time. I remember the first KB shifter stay bushing I installed. At first I didn't think it did much of anything, but after a week I was loving it!!!
I agree with Mulder 150%. If you overtighten that bolt it makes the shifter feel mushy and strange. Eventually it will tend to loosen up a little, but it's much faster to just untighten the bolt a hair.

This is one of those mods that I honestly think gets better with time... at first, the bushings felt kind of notchy to me, but after a month or two, I started noticing how smooth and precise the shifts felt. Maybe it's just psychological, but it really feels like the bushings "break in" or something after a little use. Give it time... you'll grow to love it!
