So I was driving to school, and when I go to shift into first from a stop, its like there is nothing there. I was not able to push the stick forward at all, it was like a wall. 2nd gear worked fine so I had to start in 2nd. While cruising in the parking lot, I noticed that 3rd, 4th, and 5th gears would not engauge either, when I would go to push the stick up or down, it would not move at all. It was moving just fine left to right and would go left --> down into 2nd gear, but all other gears its like i was locked out of. When I parked I played with the stick and got 3rd thru 5th to work, but 1st was still locked out. All the way home I would try 1st gear when I had a chance but it didnt work. When I pulled into my garage and turned the car off I played with the stick again. After rowing through 2nd-5th gears, I finally got it to go into 1st. I backed up and then went to put it into first and voila, it worked just fine like nothing had ever happened.

Can anybody explain this? This is the first time this has ever happened to me.

Happened to me too. I hit the stock with a text book...went back to normal (once in 80k miles!)

I think its a shift fork or a binding linkage issue...it was so random. Never found out what it actually was.
