View Full Version : Just wanted to say hello...some questions...
QCK HNDA 10-07-2001, 01:02 AM Hey...I'm new to the forum...just wanted to first off say Hello!!!!
Alright...a buddy of mine is getting a new car within a month or so...he is chewing his head off between the WRX and the RSX-S...both are AWESOME cars if you ask me...
The RSX-S has the looks...leather...sunroof...comfort...good performance...all around awesome!!!!
The WRX is just a 4wd beast!!!! Plain and simple...it is quite ugly in stock mode (sorry)...but with money...and a body kit...it looks tight as hell!!!! Performance is great...and you can't ask for something quicker for the price!!!!
So...which would you think...WRX or RSX-S???? That's the only question...I would probably choose the RSX-S...but what about you????
Thnx...and nice to meet all of you!!!!
fanatic 10-07-2001, 01:07 AM wrx, faster, more aftermarket, lots of torque, its not a hon-duh
Verist 10-07-2001, 01:12 AM WRX! It is not just because I own one.. A turbo can be hooked up with little $$$. It is more practical. It is an AWD car, does well in all types of weather (not a big deal in Florida). Look at this months Sports Compact Car for a head to head review.
Regan-
The looks will grow on you.
wistful 10-07-2001, 01:29 AM From anywhere between 25K up to.. probably 45K.. there's nothing that you're gonna that will be consistently faster in real-life and track conditions. Why do you think there is such a cult following everywhere else in the world? The Japanese and Europeans are fanatical about the WRX, and they know wats up 'bout cars.

Imprezed_Driver 10-07-2001, 11:54 PM Check out the past issue of Sport Compact Car when they go head to head RSX vs WRX (it was a wagon that was tested). The WRX won out on almost all performance issues. They will both be in the same price range, but take into consideration what the general usage of the vehicle will be. Is he going to auto-x or use strictly as a daily driver? The WRX already has turbo and AWD so upgrades will be simple bolt on's to greatly up the performance. The RSX on the other hand will take some serious mods to catch up in HP, not to mention the torque difference. Both are nice rides indeed. Just let him drive each and see what he prefers.
JaPsiCaN 10-08-2001, 12:50 AM I am currently making a decision about which one to purchase....They are both very nice cars in the same price range...But i think with the WRX you get more car for your money...I mean who can pass up AWD...Snow, rain, or sun its a all-weather car...Plus it come from the factory turbo-charged! Not to mention there is a HUUUUGE aftermarket. (which i never knew before seeing i was a Honda/Acura Fan) The RSX-S is a damn nice car too, but with the very limited aftermarket i am kinda hesistant, plus that crappy suspension it has now. I hear though in a few years a lot of parts will become and available and also the RSX-R (hopefully) will be coming out...But Subarau will have the STi (hopefully) by that time So, my mind is pretty much set on the WRX ...Now the hard part is to see how I can fit this car into my budget with school, girlfriend, and other expenses. I think i can drop the Girlfriend for now and pick up another one when i get the car....haha...J/K!
aninnocentman 10-08-2001, 01:26 AM Look at the October Car and Driver where they compare the WRX to the S4 and 330xi. If the fact that they're comparing it to cars that cost 60% more doesn't convince your friend (or the fact that it almost wins), then tell him to buy the RSX. My favorite quote from the article: "If you can find a better $24,520 car, buy it."
Kostamojen 10-08-2001, 03:23 AM RSX has no LSD (IE lots of torque steer) and half the power band of the WRX
Your decision guys
Eric SS 10-08-2001, 03:24 AM The WRX is more practical. 4-door and a turbo engine from the factory. Plus, I liked the RSX until I saw one in person.

yuns555 10-08-2001, 12:47 PM your asking what car to get in a subaru impreza club forum? hmmmm.

Maximum 10-08-2001, 01:04 PM Yup, no bias here! :D
They're both great cars and you can't really go wrong with either one. My (unbiased) opinion would be to go with the WRX for performance reasons. (Better accel., handling, AWD) If performance is not as important, I'd probably go with the RSX. (Nicer exterior/interior, more amenities)
What really sucks is that in sometime over a year or so, you might be able to get a Type-R or an STi, both of which are simply phenominal cars.
UnderAgeEnthusiast 10-08-2001, 04:02 PM Personally - If u plan to do aftermarket stuff to your car: WRX. Plan to keep it stock: RSX Type-S
With 200hp and a 6 speed, what more could u want (except AWD :) )...

fanatic 10-08-2001, 05:57 PM yeah, as of now, I know of very little mods you can do to a rsx, but there are tons for the wrx.
Buttsy 10-08-2001, 10:37 PM Yeah, but we all expect the STI to be a $30-35,000 plus car, right? What will an RSX-R go for? Not the same as an STI, I would expect. If he's comparing the WRX and RSX of today, I agree with Maximum, but the STI and RSX-R will likely be out of the price range of the cars he's asking about.
Besides, one's a FWD coupe/hatch, the other's an AWD sedan. Pretty big difference there, he needs to also consider what he need the car for and what he expects from it. (And you can't get the RSX in a wagon now, can you? :D )
Wrx0R 10-09-2001, 05:33 AM haha, i dont think your going to get a answer that is for the RSX-S here on the i-club.....after all this is a subaru forum hehe:D

How does that suck? Otherwise, we'd all be driving Model T's???
