My buddy has a 1.8T Jetta and he hooked up his boost gauge originally to the BOV, but then after speaking to the tuners at momentum tuning in wallingford, they stated that hooking the gauge up to the fuel pressure regulator would get a more accurate reading of how many psi he was pushing. I have a 2002 wrx with a boost gauge and i have it coming off of the BOV as well. my question to all of you is, is it true that hooking it up to the fuel pressure regulator will give it a more accurate reading????

Thanks in advance
Pete

Not really. Both locations are direct manifold connections. Perhaps the theory is that the FPR hose is shorter so there would be better response, but in practice it doesn't matter much. Besides, the bypass valve hose is in a better location and is more readily (and safely) tapped. The FPR hose is a smaller diameter and very short so the install would be a bit trickier, and if something came apart later it could cause the FPR to lose its manifold signal which would be bad for the engine.
So, short answer just stick to the standard bypass valve connection.

Thanks Mulder for your help! That's all i needed.

Hey Pete,

Looks like you decided to keep the WRX. How is she doing? Running well I hope. I ended up buying an STI after we moved, been modding it for STU autocross and driving the crap out of it. The stock tires lasted 8000 miles before they were dead. Glad you are still enjoying the car. Did you keep the Vette and L too? Talk to you later.
