i had recently bought an 05 sti AP and couldnt get it workin ( having trouble communicating error) and had takin it to ds1 today and we found out the car was mad in 04, so its an 05 everything else but the ecu. so my question is, can i change the 05 AP to an 04? has anyone done that? is it possible? thanks

If you bought it from Cobb they'll switch it no problem. So no, you can't simply switch the '05 into an '04. You need to exchange the units.

well, im not too sure about that.. i know that you can do this with the WRX, so i would expect the same with the STi.. they have the computer software that comes with the AP so you can just go to their site and change the maps..
go to cobbs web site and message/ask them this in THEIR forums..

thanks guys, i had returned it to cobb, since nobody's heard of an 04 ecu in an 05 sti. But i did go to subaru and they say that from 01/04 to 03/31/04 have different ecu numbers than the 04/04 to 10/04 on the 2005 sti's well something like that so they say it might be a slim chance that i have an 04 ecu since my car was built in 03/04, im hoping thats its just the AP
