hi everyone, i'm looking into getting a wrx. most likely the wagon since they'll move on price more and its more practical ( i have a bunch of big junk i move around ). anyways, i was curious if there are any options i really should get from subaru if i get it. most i'm looking at for sure is the differential protector. is it worth to do the stereo or the short-shifter or better to go aftermarket? thanks, any advice would be great

Actually they are more willing to deal on sedans, as there are far more available.

You'll love which ever one you get!! Good luck.

weird thing is, every subaru dealer i've been to, they want to sell the sedan at MSRP, plus have only 1 or 2 on the lot at best ( especially with the 5spd ). both dealers i've been to have had an excess of wagons, kinda weird cause i was just reading somewhere that of the 10000 wrxs coming, 20% are wagons. maybe chicago is getting too many lol.
actually, whats even crazier is one of the dealers i went to to check out the wrx were complete a**holes. they wanted me to put a $500 deposit down and sign the agreement before i could drive it and make a decision. went to the next dealer, guy practically tossed me the keys to take one for a spin.
just out of curiousity, what kind of price is everyone paying for there wrx sedan/wagon? edmunds.com true market value is saying i should pay about $23000 + tax ttl license fees ( thats with security upgrade + armrest + stereo upgrade + compass mirror ).

I bought my wagon with no options and am slowly adding on. If there's any options you can't get through an aftermarket supplier then I'd consider getting through Subaru...ooooooorrrrrrrr, goto subaruparts.com and get it for the invoice price. Bang for your buck...go with aftermarket stuff. You can spend that money for the stereo upgrade and get some really good sounding stuff from Boston, Infinity, Polk, etc....you just hafta deal with the installation.

The stock stereo system is adequate for my needs. If you can swing a deal on the short shifter, by all means do it. It's a very nice unit, that can be further improved by swapping in a set of Kartboy bushings.

I'm not a fan of the diff protector, unless you're planning on rallying the car.
