I went two whole months with with the full InvicaShield package installed and not one single chip on the car... until last week.

Looks like some gravel hit my car, no damage to the area that was protected by the InvincaShield. I did take three chips about a half inch where the InvincaShield stopped on my FL quarter-panel and another two chips on my RL quarter-panel.

I went ahead and ordered touchup paint, clear-coat and the Langka product to repair the chips. All of the chips went only through the paint and not beyond the primer. Per the instructions I cleaned the chips with rubbing alcohol, applied the touchup paint, waited for it to dry and used the Langka to remove the paint blob.

The Langka was top notch! It did exactly what it was supposed to do and removed all of the excess touch up paint WITHOUT dulling the clear coat.

BUT... the OEM Subaru touch-up paint was so thin, I couldn't even get a blob to form. So what I ended up was a paint chip that was the same color as my original paint! What I am trying now is applying multiple coats of touch up paint and using the Langka product once I get the paint built above the chip.

If anyone has a way or a secret to thicken the OEM touchup paint to "fill" as well as cover please let me know.

Otherwise, run out and order Langka today to fix those paint chips and scratches!!! Well worth the $26 (includes shipping) and will repair up to 30 chips.

their site is down... does anyone else know where to grab it? or a similar product that does just as well?

Hmm, nice review. If it wasn't for the words of a fellow iClubber, I would have thought this to be the typical "...only 19.95! And if you order now..." snake oil :)

The war on paint chips has been declared

I have used Langka on my blue WRX as well. The touch-up paint does go on a little thin, so I usually put a 2nd or 3rd coating on to make sure it's covered.

Langka works well to remove the blob. The only issue I have is that the area I touched-up on is a bit darker than the rest of my car regardless of how much I shake the touch-up paint container. The color difference is neglible though....looks like a tiny stain even when you're standing really close to the car.

Oh, just in case I didn't make it clear.....when I mentioned the tiny stains, I meant the chipped area and NOT the paint surface surrounding the chip.

Langka does a good job of removing the excess blob and does not SEEM to affect the paint. Of course, I would not know if the applied area will start fading 5 years from now....at least I hope not! :p

Were you able to find the clear coat at the dealers, if so did you use it on top of the color coat before using the Langka?

Langka has worked extremely well for me too! Nice review.

How does it work? Is it fine abrasive or chemical action?

I've used it and it definately helps. I think its a chemical thing that removes the excess paint.

That's the best I can do too. The 1st few times was either still a blob, or I removed ALL the touch up paint. It was quite frustrating to use.

Looks like it works pretty well on large, smooth surface, i.e. hood. What happens if the surface is relatively curvy? They have the full money back guarantee as well. May be I will try that.

I used the Mothers Paint Chip Repair version which is Langka in a Mother's bottle. While I have no doubt it works fine on small to big chips, do not think you can take and use this on your whole front end! :furious: I will be taking my car to get wet sanded now. :( It takes about 2-3 minutes per paint repair. Considering my 40K mile 2004 has 20,000 dings, scratches, and chips, I went crazy with about 250 repairs. 250 times 2-3 minutes per is a lot of time. Speeding up the process doesn't work either. I used a metal tool under the T-shirt, fiber optic sandpaper, and finally achieved success with 800 grit sandpaper. 800 grit, of course, dulls the finish. So now I will be shopping for getting my front end wet sanded to remove the rest of the blobs and brighten up the 2-3 dulls spots. :(

Cliff Notes:
Good for 2-3 repairs at a time.
Worst idea evAr if you think it will allow you to make your car perfect in a day.

will langka work for a bad chip that is all the way down to the metal?

It should. Make sure you remove any rust (you want a white metal surface - no rust at all), then apply a primer, then the touch up paint - build the touch up paint into a blob then use the langka to smooth that.

I'm curious how well this works on PSM - I have tried levelling compounds, and all you are left with is an odd looking paint spot...
