Does mounting a FMIC cause coolant temps to rise during the summer months? This is with a stock radiator.Does the ac performance suffer due to not enough air getting to the condenser.Thanks.

Although our cars have excellent cooling systems, I'd suggest an oil cooler...esp. if you are gonna use an aftermarket turbo. Perhaps a lower temp Tstat boosted20 05-08-2006, 05:27 AM a fmic has caused a local member's car to run hot. the rise in water temp was solved by adding a decent oil cooler. the car that had the problem is far from stock. i mean the jdm sti. also i have to add that this was in the middle of summer here so ya know. you can only do so much for the heat but i have found that the oil cooler does more than a nice radiator. szeny 05-08-2006, 10:48 PM i havent noticed anythign yet.. we shall see DimSum22 05-10-2006, 04:49 PM Coolant temps rise quite a bit in my experience. Oil cooler is a definite must, especially for AZ track days! You could install a new thermostat so the fans kick in sooner. That'd keep you cool at stop lights and traffic during the summer months in Arizona. CarbineReloaded 05-10-2006, 05:19 PM my 2g DSM had some cooling problems when I put a FMIC on it..... however, the car was far from stock, and DSMs have much less area available to the radiator then a WRX does. |
