OK, here's the scoop. I've got a friend who knows the kid of the dentist of the president of SOA and he gave me the lowdown on the next GT.
In 2002 we're gonna get a new version of the old 1.8T engine (from the GL-10) mated to only the 4EAT (5spd wasn't selling enough). They are going to change the rear swaybar to a 11mm and soften the suspension (old people said it was too "jarring" and "stiff"). The top speed is going to be electronically limited to 110mph (brakes will be downgraded to save money so it needs a lower top-speed). According to Subaru internal memos, they are going to change the target market for the GT and the badging also. Now it's going to be aimed at older retired people looking for the safety of AWD, but none of the excessive performace of cars like the Audi A4 or A6. It's going to be called the Subaru Legacy AP (as in A.A.R.P.)
