I have a friend who is dealing w/ a clutch replacement on a suby. The suby is less than a year and a half old. this person has been driving stick since 16, and has been leasing cars for the past 8 years, and never had a failure like this, actualy they stated
"I've never had to do anything to a lease vehicle yet, except for regular maintenance!!"
This being the case, I was wondering if this person has any recourse. So far its been "Well, yer clutch is bad, yep, its not covered under warranty, yep give us $1000.00"
Now I'm not naming dealerships, and I'm not giving out my friends personal info so as not to adversly affect what is going on so far (because the dealership is going back to SOA to see what they can do.)
My question is what can my friend do to make sure they don't get a $1000.00 bill in the end (pun intended).
My friend is really disappointed in Suby's at this point, and I don't blame them. a car w/ less than 25000 miles on it and a decent driver (and she is one of the granny types) should not have a clutch go so quickly.
Also, I guess this begs the question, how do we possible future experiencers of this type of failure protect ourselves from the "loopholes" of our warranty.
your help is appreciated.
