ALL oil technology has come a long way. Dinos are great, but synthetics are still better and protect far more, regardless of interval. If you get a new car every 5 years, use whatever you like. If you want to keep it as long as possible, use synthetic.

Switching oil filters is a waste of money, unless you are going more than 7000+ miles or operating in dusty rally conditions (in which case you need to do more than change only your filter.

With the advances in filter technology, a 3k interval doesn't come close to maxing a filters capacity. People on BITOG have cut filters apart after 10,000+ miles and shown that they could easily go farther, both with piccs and used oil analysis.
