I reread the tech books, and SubyTechMaster you're right although they describe it as thus:
"17. Front and Rear Wheel Bearing Lubricant
Inspect the condition of front and rear wheel bearing grease."
(that's the way I remembered it... ) before they delve into checking the play in the hubs without anymore mention of "grease".
I had a front bearing go a while back and think it would be advantageous if you could access the bearing grease w/o having to press it out or pull the inner seal. Zerk fitting to the hub housing perhaps?
