I race in the SCCA SP class and I can't run a FMIC but I can run a larger TMIC.

I plan on snaggin a JDM for the slight volume increase and have it coated with thermal dispersant w/claims of increased efficiency.

Will the car be tracked at all?
Autocross only, (45 seconds - balls to the walls)
For example, I try to track my car as often as possible, so ANY TMIC wasn't enough for me, I ran into constant heat-soak problems after just a few laps. Moving the IC out of the hot engine bay really seemed to help keep intake temps cooler, longer.

Now if you don't track the car, but plan to upgrade teh powAr, I might look into something larger than any of the OEM TMIC's.

But if you're just going to keep things pretty close to what they are now, you should be fine for daily driving and autocrossing.
