I'd be concerned with oil starvation using a tire softer than the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup or Kumho VictoRacer V700, and even then you may run into an issue. MXs sound like a good choice, or if you want to do 17s find a set of take-off OEM STi tires (RE070s) since you can ususally find a set for cheap here on the boards. They also work well on the track for a street tire.

I've done all (but two on RE070s) of my track days on shaved max performance summer tires (Pirelli PZero System Asimmetrico, 140AA UTQG). While they're not nearly as fast as race tires, they last a long time, corner well (around 1.05g) and are heat tolerant. No issues with oil pressure drop or starvation.
