Yokoham Neova AD07 - better dry and wet traction than the RE070's and the BFG - much quieter than either as well. Tested against the BFG here and won handily:

It is the best dry-cornering street tire that TireRack has ever tested, competed well against the Falken ST615 in a test of shaved street tires in Grassroots Motorsports, and also tested best in the dry in a recent Car&Driver street tire test- where it beat the GSD3 among others - GSD3 was best in the wet, however. Not likely as quiet as the GSD3, but considered quiet for its type. Also has a stiffer sidewall than the other two - good since you're coming off the all time champ in that area, the RE070.

Unfortunately, the 17x7.5 stock wheels on the '04 STI will only support the stock size 225/45x17 in the Yokohama. The benefit of the Falken ST615 is that it comes in 245/45x17 and that would be the largest tire you could fit on that wheel in terms of width - the taller size would also be a benefit for the gearing of the STI 6-speed.

For street driving I'd take the Neova's, but for the track the ST615 in 245/45x17 would get the nod. If you went to a 17x8.5 wheel I'd say go with the 255/40x17 Neovas...
