This is COMPLETELY WRONG information.

ECUTek is a reflashing company based in UK - they offer tools to professionals that allow those pros to either send you a reflashed ECU (which may or may not be good for your car) or to custom tune it on a dyno with your car in-house.

AccessECU is another reflashing company (based in SaltLakeCity / part of Cobb Tuning) and they also offer those tools to professionals for custom dynotuning or sending out off-the-shelf maps. The main difference is in delivery.

With ECUTek, the flashing must be done by the professional onto an ECU. With AccessPort, the end-user can do the flashing onto their own ECU using the "AccessPort" tool (the black box that you get when you buy it).

A "Protuner" is one who professionally tunes AccessPort-enabled cars. A "Pro Tuner" is anybody who tunes cars for a living.

Both formats (AccessECU and ECUTek) are fully capable of producing Off-The-Shelf maps for users or for custom dynotuning to perfection. I personally don't understand why people still use ECUTek with the convenience and upgradeability of AccessPort.

Accessport has:
-lower initial cost for off-the-shelf (and similar final cost when dynotuned)
-end-user reprogramming
-end-user UN-programming
-upgradeability to StreetTuner which is a fully user-tunable system
-on-the-fly map switching of up to 8 maps
-easy resale when you want to get rid of it
