Default 158,000 miles on an outback too high for a cocktail?

I was just about to change the tranny oil on my 98 outback, and the guy at Napa had recommended that I use 75w-90 so I bought three quarts of valvoline, but after reading this post I am thinking this is probably the wrong oil to be using to replace the oil in the tranny. I am running 158,000 miles now and I bought the car at 100,000 miles, and haven't changed the transmission oil at all yet. Reading through the cocktails sounds very hopeful and something I am interested in doing but I was just wondering if I have too high of mileage, I also want my tranny to last as long as possible because I plan on keeping this car forever because I really love it. Any help you could give me on this would be wonderful, thank you so much.
