I make my first oil change at 1000 miles too. There is no break in oil though or no special oil that is, I just like to change it at 1000 then 4, 7 and at 10K I go to synth. Personally I think 7.5K is too long. If you really want to know how your oil is doing, send it to Blackstone for an analysis:
