In my 2006 Impreza Outback Sport, the factory subwoofer which is under the driver's seat, is definately hooked up to the front speakers. Like the person with the Baja stated, there is a noticable volume drop and bass response drop when you adjust the fader toward the rear.

I would like to increase that volume level, and possibly the overall volume level. Is the best way to do that simply to replace the stock head unit?

If so, what do you all recommend for a double-DIN head unit? I don't like the idea of adding "spacers" or cubbies or trays under or below. I would like it to look as stock as possible.

Thanks.
