Well, I went and asked Omori NA why they're prices are so much more than Omori Malaysia... here's the reply:

Scott-

Unfortunately, no.

One thing you need to keep in mind. Regardless of what you may have been
told, Omori Malaysia is no longer authorized to sell here because of a lack
of customer service and support that was becoming detrimental to our product
line and image. They simply act as an agent that passes orders to the
factory in Japan, where they are drop shipped. Since Omori set us up here
to handle the North American market, they no longer ship any orders through
Malaysia to the US. Hence, you may pay, but you won't receive it, and the
documentation is here on my desk to confirm that. It's something we have
been battling, but in the end it is good for everyone. We can bring you a
superior and unique product, and top-notch service, and avoid the hassles
that you'd face if you got a shipment from 3000+ miles away that was
damaged, or included improper parts for your application.

Regardless, orders from them will not be backed by any warranties or
guarantees of any kind by the manufacturer or by us. I'm sorry you feel our
prices are high, but I assure you we are not ripping anyone off. We are not
an agent. We are a stocking distributor. We are building a warehouse of
parts to allow ready access should a customer need immediate assistance or
warranty replacements. An agent such as Omori Malaysia does not do this.
They simply take your order, mark it up, and pass it to the Mfg. He has no
costs, no inventory, does not need staff to help you with problems, and does
not have to care if you have to wait 4 weeks to get part, because he's 3000
miles from you. As a distributor, we have to sell at retail. As we develop
our distribution network here you will see some flexibility in that regard.
We are currently working with a very well known WRX specialist/tuner to
carry this line of product exclusively, and as they know the market, they
are free to adjust prices accordingly to match the Subaru enthusiasts'
demands. But the prices we give are set by the manufacturer. I'd ask that
you give us a couple of weeks to settle things with them, and then the WRX
product will be available readily all over the country.

Thanks for hearing us out. We will do and are doing everything we can to
satisfy all our current and future customers.

Regards,
Greg

Anyone care to comment on their experiences with Omori Malaysia? I'd like to order locally for all the reasons Greg gave me, but not at a 40% markup!
