Nice choice for a solid bike with a reliable and simple suspension design. It should do you just fine for DH riding if you have a good fork, brakes, wheels and tires.
I currently ride a Demo 9 for DH/FR and a Stumpjumper FSR Pro for my XC/Trail bike. I like Specialized bikes but as a company they kinda suck because they are notorious for screwing over bike shops, especially smaller ones.
