The place we are aiming for is called Miller’s Landing – it has a huge parking lot literally
100 meters from Mississippi. This is where my Dad and I go hunting every winter. On
the right side of the Railroad is the Mississippi Palisades State Park which has some
nice bluffs and scenic overviews, on the Left Side is Federal Land – Upper Mississippi

The tower stands over 100 feet and provides a spectacular 360 degree view of Jo
Daviess County countryside. Stand at any one of the three platforms and imagine some
of the first settlers to inhabit "Gods Country," such as Chief Black Hawk, the lead
miners, steam captains and early farmers. Great photo opportunities.

6) APPLE RIVER STATE HISTORIC SITE

A recreation of the fort attacked by Black Hawk and his warriors during the summer of
1832, this historic site provides guests with a glimpse into the bloody battle that took
place here. An on-site interpretive center provides more information on the area during

ensued between Black Hawk's men and early settlers.

State Park Overview: Apple River Canyon State Park is in the hilly northwest art of
Illinois in Jo Daviess County near the Wisconsin border. This scenic canyon area was

vast sea bottom that stretched from the Alleghenies to the Rockies.
