There is more of a difference with the sti axles than the shaft being stronger. I would highly recommend using sti axles up front. I tried using my wrx axles with the 6 speed and while it did work, my tranny leaked and my cv joints were being flexed to much because the axles are the wrong size! Like said before, if you use sti axles up front there is no need to buy front sti hubs, all you need is the axles themselves and they will fit in just fine.
