The extra money comes from all of the extra parts that you had no idea that you needed.. but are nonetheless important. I bought a brand new STi V RA engine.. but if you buy used stuff, you better be prepared, cause you may be replacing parts before you even begin the process.

Also, swaps take time. I've spent so much time worrying wondering and planning this car out, that I'm seriously burnt out on the whole project. With a project of this scope, burning out halfway through is a distinct possibility, so be prepared and make sure that you have people who will not let you quit! You don't want to end up with a halfway complete project car and a garage full of parts that you'll never use.
very true...this needs to be copied/pasted into it's own thread and stickied.

yes, you can do these swaps "cheaply" ($2K), but having seen the ramifications first hand, i'm still sitting on the parts i've accumulated thus far. i have a very nice, capable car as is...i'm not too keen on jumping into something half-assed, being broke, and then riding the bus to work for the next year.

something to think about...

so until i can hand blank checks to rallispec, i'm moving VERY slowly on this.
