Is "clutch shudder" a slipping clutch? I sometimes have that when I have just started my car and it's cold.
My '00 OBS does the same thing when it (the car) is cold. I don't know that I would call it "slipping". It is more of (go figure) a shudder, that is a pronounced pulsating vibration. Slipping (in simple terms) is when your RPMs go up but the car does not accelerate as it should. Slip a lot, and it will get stinky. Put yourself into a small snow drift to avoid getting hit by an out-of-control driver and then rock back and forth for 5 minutes to get out - that gets you stinky AND smoke (and a shortened clutch life).

The remedy for shudder - just give it a little more gas.
