Simply put, you tape everything you dont want polished. One, because some polish will stain your trim and two because your pads may damage your trim. You will also want to tape off emblems etc. If you're using a rotary, a lot of people tape off edges as to not burn them.


I don't tape for waxing, in my opinion...any wax that will stain trim is inferior and outdated.

I'm not a Griots guy, I think they're a great entry level product as theyre readily available but theres better stuff out there. Duragloss and Optimum are my general go to brands.

I used a sealant to "wax" my rims when I first got them and they shed brake dust rather easily. I primarily do Optimum ONR washes which work well with wheels. P21s makes a great wheel gel for those super stubborn wheels.
