The hill holder itself is nothing new they had them in 1984. The new thing is that its not mechanical anymore having it be electronic with a computer telling how long for it to hold instead of it kicking on/off (depends on how you look at it) the moment you touch the gas is the pita for me.
Beware though, if you disable it and have a clutch issue in a town with a lot of hills they dealer could have a leg to say they wont warranty a clutch failure.
There are PLENTY of people that think they know how to drive stick that don't. I ride with them on a weekly basis. They complain that the car smells funny, complain the clutch failed prematurely, jam the car into a gear coming down thru gears too fast, etc.
The fact that a syncro had to be added to 1st gear is proof of that. (although I really do like that!).
