I agree that it would be hard to use a 35r single scroll on an autox, but since I have the 6-speed it's rare for me to go under 3,500 rpm on any corner. Hence the reason I'm looking for something that can hit full spool very close to 4k. I'm sure with some left foot braking I can minimize the loss of speed in the very tight corners, and the extra power in the long sweepers/straights would be very handy!
While the vf30 produces decent power, it's a rather unresponsive turbo due to the thrust bearing design. Plus it has a on/off switch personality that's hard to live with when you're trying to turn corners smoothly
I win my class 9 times out of 10, but every time I'm at an event with a nationally prepped SM car I'm always 2-3 seconds behind. Just trying to narrow that gap a bit
The 16g was an option, but if I'm going to do the setup I'd like (EWG, injectors, headers, and a few other goodies) I would rather shoot for something that comes on boil around the 4k mark, that makes upwards of 350whp with good response to the throttle pedal and will keep going till 7500 rpm or later.
Please don't take this as dismissing advice, but the word "never" shouldn't apply when it comes to cars
Either way, I've got all winter and next summer to research/work on driving skills more. It's not till winter of 2009/2010 that I'll do the swap.
