Maybe is has to do with the structural aspect of the carbon/fiberglass?

Like I said above, the dampers are very strong and I wouldn't let go of the hood when ever it's being raised. That could be the only possible situation where these things would damage the carbon hoods. If you let go of it the dampers would probably rip the carbon apart from the force.

I have seen other dampers though specifically for carbon hoods.
